Y5 Home Learning Update

Hello Class Lennon!

It is Miss Blenkin here! Welcome back to the new half term – the last one of this year before the summer holidays! This year has gone very fast but I want to say a big well done for all the work you’ve been completing at home! You worked exceptionally hard last half term and Miss Lackenby and I are very proud of you all!

If you haven’t already seen on your Seesaw page, I have posted a video with some important updates with regards to our Home Learning as we move into the final term of Year 5. Moving forward, I am going to be posting Home Learning for both Year 4 and Year 5 and I appreciate your cooperation and support as we continue with this.

Starting from next week, I will be sending you 3 activities a day. This will be 1 maths, 1 reading and 1 other curriculum subject. This could be Geography, Science, History, PSHE, RE, French or any other subject we do in an afternoon at school. In addition to this, I will be sending 1 writing task a week for you to complete. This will give you plenty of time to write a first draft, check punctuation and spellings, redraft a section or two if you wish and then write it up in neat, thinking carefully about your handwriting and presentation.

School has said there is a minimum expectation that you complete 1 of these activities every day. Your mental health and emotional wellbeing is paramount during this time and so we understand if you are unable to complete all 3 activities every day – just try your best! The activities will be in line with the Year 5 summer term curriculum that you would be learning if we were in school, so it is important you try your best and do as much as you can every day!

If you look at Class Edison's blog page, there are several Home Learning Menus with optional activities for you to complete at home in a variety of subjects. Please look back through the old blog posts to find activities on Music, Art, PSHE and PE!

Keep working hard and make sure you take advantage of the glorious weather we’ve been having recently!

Speak soon,

Miss Blenkin
