What did the Mayans do for us?

Welcome to class Walliams Spring term update!

This term we are focusing on learning about the Mayans and what they have done for us. Children have been interested in Mayan Gods, the number system and even the foods that were important to the Mayans.

We will also be covering Easter. Children are wondering why Easter is important to Christians. We will be looking at Holy week and the resurrection of Jesus. We will be discussing why some people's relationship with God has dwindelled.

In writing we are looking at developing our story writing skills. We have been creating some excellent story settings and looking at how we can develop character descriptions. We will also be exploring story structures and how to apply this to our own stories.

In addition to learning our times tables through Times Table Rockstars we have been strengthening our knowledge of addition and subtraction whilst also developing our understanding of using written methods for multiplication and division. We are recognising the inverse operations in order to help us with our calculations and for tackling word problems.

What can you do to help at home?

  • Please can you practice times tables and spellings at home daily. Spellings come home every Friday and the children are tested the following Friday.
  • Please come see us if you have lost your login for Times Table Rockstar.
  • PE remains on a Wednesday morning so please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit. We have noticed that some children are bringing incorrect kit.

This week has been challenge week and we have been working hard to demostrate all of our progress this term. Well done to class Walliams!

Thank you for your ongoing support with your child's education.
