Welcome to a new school year with Diggins!

Welcome to another brand new school year!

I am so delighted to have started with such a fantastic and enthusiastic group of children. We have been getting stuck straight in to establishing clear classroom and school rules which will enable to us to be the best that we can and to set our standards and expectations of ourselves, and each other, really high.

In Literacy, we are looking at how to write letters with a clear purpose whilst using amazingly accurate sentence structure and perfect letter formation. This is links to our enquiry big question: 'Is it good to be me?' as we are going to sharing in our letters evidence that persuades our audience that it is REALLY good to be us!

We are currently researching these ideas, and are (with the help of adults at home!) collecting artefacts that help to build a picture of who we are as individuals. We will be expanding this idea by exploring where we actually live in the world and about how North Yorkshire is special to us all.

We are also really busy being scientists! We began thinking about things that are living or dead and if there is a checklist to see if something is alive! These caterpillers are certainly still very much alive and wriggling around in our classroom.

We have learned to zoom in on the IPad cameras whilst in search of microhabitats. I wonder if we managed to find any?

We all enjoyed a fantastic Mr Roald Dahl Day today, thank you for all your efforts in making your child look great. I thoroughly enjoyed being Miss Trunchbull!

Thank you very much for remembering that PE is now on a Wednesday afternoon. Children will come home in their kit each week, so please remember to return them ready for the following week's session.

Please ensure that you read with your child at home once a day. We keep a close record and it is clear to see the positive impact regular home reading has on your child's progression in reading.

If you have any questions about anyting linked to school life, please come and find me and I will be very happy to help in any way that I can.

Happy Autumn Term,

Miss Smith
