Class Blyton

Class Blyton

What are we learning this year?

Class Blog:

Wow, what an exciting first half term Class Blyton have had! We have managed to fly around 7 different continents in the space of just 8 weeks! As Explorers, we have learnt about the 7 continents and the 5 oceans of the world as well as visiting a country in each of the continents. Our enquiry was ‘Which countries are in each of the continents?’

As Writers, we have created our own narratives based on our class novel as well as learning all about instructions and how to write them.

As Readers, we have also worked hard to develop our fluency as well as trying hard to read at least 3 times a week at home. We have had the opportunity to make inferences and predictions on what might happen next in a story and why.

As Mathematicians, we have developed our knowledge of using place value to help us add and subtract numbers. We have also been working really hard to practise our times tables so that we are more confident in using them.

As Scientists, we have conducted lots of exciting experiments where we have tested out different materials to find out which material is the most waterproof and why. We even designed our own aprons using different materials!

As Athletes, we have looked at the key fundamental skills and how we can use them to move around a space in different ways. We have tried hard to encourage one another in PE and develop good sportsmanship skills.

We have made such an excellent start to the beginning of the school year and we can’t wait to find out what the next half term has to offer!

Please can I remind you that our PE day is a Friday so children will need to have a full PE kit, including warm clothing, with them. Homework and spellings will also be given out weekly on a Monday and will be due the following Monday. Please also encourage your child to read at least 3 times at home.
