Three Little Pigs

Dear Parents/Guardians, Thank you for all of your support at helping your children settling back into school routines in the first few weeks. This half term Class Elmer are starting a new enquiry into traditional tales. We have been reading The Three Little Pigs and the children have been busying themselves in construction their own junk house models and stone houses. We are continuing to follow the Read-Write -Inc programme focussing on plenty of sound and phonics games. If you would like to find out more about this programme please refer to http://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/. In Numeracy we have been practising counting up to 20 and back from ten in addition to learning plenty of mathematic terminology including; least, most, equal to. We continue to offer children plenty of time to free-flow in both the indoor and outdoor facilities, giving them opportunities to follow their own interests. These blocks are broken up with carpet time for snack, Phonics and Numeracy. Please could you ensure that children are sent to school with the following additional items; • Hat and gloves • underwear and socks • a second pair of shoes (either wellies for outdoor wear or plimsoles for indoor play) • a carrier bag for wet or soiled clothing • if your child is a new starter please send them with a comforter (blanket, soft toy etc) When you arrive at the beginning of each session, please could you encourage your child to take their own coat off, hang it on their peg and find their name on the registration board. It is also important that if they are staying for lunch that a card is put up to indicate a choice of packed lunch or school dinner. They also need to drop off their reading bag at least once a week so that it may be changed later on in the session. Please could all parents be aware that we have several children with severe allergies in the class. It is therefore very important that no egg or nut products be brought into school. Please could you also be aware that we are a chocolate free school and therefore no chocolate should be sent in for packed lunches. We have now put together Class Pride and Home Learning boards in the classroom to celebrate the children’s achievements. If they have produced something at home they are proud of, please bring it in so that we can share in this achievement. Mrs Adderly and myself are enjoying capturing many exciting moments of your childrens’ learning on the school iPads and share daily updates on Twitter. It would be lovely to see more parents signing up for the school’s twitter page and liking some of the photos. @maltonprimary. There are quite a few existing and new parents that need to log onto the Eexat system to view their child’s learning journal. If you would like to organise a time to come into school to get logged in for the first time, we are more than happy to support you with this. You could make a start for this process by purchasing the free app for this programme (EExAT Parent App). It is simple, free and quick to sign up for, and will allow you to have a window into your child’s experiences at school in word, photograph and video form. Many thanks Simone Miller & Mrs Adderly
