What do we like to do in the Summer?

The children have enjoyed our summertime enquiry; starting with a fun-filled week of adventures using their play passports, then moving onto our sports week; which culminated in our sports day. Our last Enquiry

Our last Enquiry has taken us on a roller coaster of Romans and volcanoes as we discovered the myths and God's in Roman life and why this belief system had a devestating impact in Pompeii.

 

The children have worken incredibly hard to perservere with their learning of the Roman's. They have continually thought of new and exciting questions and been motivated to find answers. Our last weeks together as Class Chancellor have been busy creating model volcanoes which we are going to 'explode' in our Science lessons this week.

Profile

I joined the governing body to provide support to the school and to take an active role in its future as I believe it is giving my daughter the best start in life. As former manager of House Martins Out of School and Holiday club I have experience in communicating confidently with other parents. I have worked in Early Years education for nine years following my degree in Education Studies and Language and Human Communication and I currently hold Early Years Professional status.

Recycling

Class Butterworth have enjoyed discovering more about our place in the world. We have thought about where to find Malton on a map, and practised using a map of our school to find our way around. We have compared Malton and Filey, discussing their similarities and differences, and have spent time describing what we like and dislike about both places. 

The children all expressed an interest in the need for us to collect our rubbish when we were in Filey, and this has led us to find out more about what and how we can recycle.
