Is Easter all about the Easter eggs?

In class Farah, we have already got off to a fantanstic and fun-filled start to the term. Our main focus this term is RE. In particular, we will be looking closely at the Easter story and the importance this holds for Christians. Through a combination of theology, philosophy and an indepth look into everyday Christian worship we will gain key insights into this area. It is brilliant to have the opportunity to engage with RE on this level and it will give the children a good grounded knowledge in this subject area allowing them to make informed decisions and have rich debates. This study will come to a close with our Easter play which is coming along very well and the songs in particular sound beautiful.

In regards to English, we have been looking at the Secret Garden and the children have absolutely loved this book so far. The writing which has been generated has been top, top quality. In maths, we will continue our journey towards excellence and we will be focusing on: length, shape and fractions. Moreover, science will be focused on light and we have showed an increasing level of understanding and sophistication in this area. P.E will continue to be on a Monday and please check working hard at home reading with the children and making sure they are practicing their times tables/spellings.

Spring term (Class Farah)

Hello everybody,

We are now well on the way with our new term and we have learnt so many exciting things so far. In class Farah, our enquiry focus is centred on the Anglo Saxons. It has been our quest to find out 'Were the Anglo Saxons vicious or victorious?' In order to answer this question, we will be looking into every facet of Saxon life. We have already had a fantastic introduction to this topic by making our own Saxon pottery and writing using Saxon runes. When we discussed Saxon life the children were very interested in the day-to-day life of the Saxons so this s what we will be looking into. Our end aim will be to create an Anglo Saxon village complete with houses, main hall, fortifications and farming land. The children have already shown a great interest in this so far at home in their own time. So it will be lovely to see this continue, areas of focus for home learning should be: farming, laws, food and trade.

Class Farah

Hello everybody,

This week has been another fun packed journey through the exciting world of education. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody in class Farah for their hard work so far. We have just finished our fantastic diaries about our time on a desert island. I am very excited to get stuck into our newpaper reports. In maths, we are coming to the end of place value now but I have been every impressed with everyones reasoning and problem solving skills. As well as this, I am looking forward to continuing our study of the human body in science. We have had some shocking results by the children in our enquiry driven science area. I can't beleive Cokeacola has 57g of sugar in a small bottle. Also, we saw how it dissolved the shell of an egg!
