Hello Class Gates!

Hello and thanks for reading!

Thanks for keeping in touch - both Miss Glass and I appreciate the emails - they keep us going! Thanks for working on Seesaw - however much you do it's always a pleasure to read and see the photo's.  Some of the DT - Food and Nutrition has been particulary impressive - move over Masterchef here comes Class Gates!  When we read a traditional tale from Australia, Amanda triumphed with the Lamingtons recipe!  If you fancy a cheese scone order them from Sam or Lewis.  When we drew compasses to fit with a traditional tale involving the points North, East, South and West we also worked out which way we slept - my head points to the North Pole!

Let's catch up

Hello!

How are you as society starts to ease out of lockdown?  My children continue to be insulted by the fact that their mum who is a teacher has become their mum who is their teacher!  Lots of complaints about me using my "teacher-voice" and that's when I've persuaded them they want to do some work!  Thank you so much to all of you who continue to support your children to access education via Seesaw.  I am currently setting the work on there and am really enjoying seeing and responding to all the work the children do.  However, as we've said before, this is a balancing act.  Priorities are keeping home life calm and safe, education must fit in around that so do dip into Seesaw as much or as little as is manageable.

World Music Day!

World Music Day!

On Sunday (21st June), it is the annual celebration of World Music Day! In many cities and countries, people take to the streets and parks and offer free concerts and performances in their neighbourhoods. Those of you that are in school, and part of a bubble, will be taking part in a variety of fun, musical-based activities this week to celebrate this event! For those of you engaging in Home Learning, here are a few suggestions of how you can take part in the day:

  • Watch and follow Just Dance videos on YouTube.
  • Host a performance or talent show to your friends and families.
  • Write and perform your own rap song!
  • Watch episodes of Albert's Band on YouTube and learn all about different kids of instruments.
  • Create a body percussion band and learn a new song (e.g. 'The Cup Song' by Anna Kendrick)
  • Ask someone you know what their favourite band or musician is and research them.
  • Continue listening and researching our own Musician of the Month - Frank Sinatra!

You are amazing!

Well done for all the work you have done at home this half term! Miss Glass and I have been so impressed by the amount of work happening on Seesaw.  We are both really enjoying posting lessons on there and being able to see what you've done through the day.  Only one week to go to half term when we can all relax for the week.

I can't see everyone on Times Table Rock Stars TTR (apologies Years 2 & 3) but I can see that Rainey Useche and James Tourtelot have been on in the last couple of days - well done boys!  Willow Blackwood is also a recent player - not only do you rock, you are learning number facts you'll need all your life!

Keeping Going at Home

Keeping Going at Home

I'm writing this on the Sunday when Prime Minister Boris Johnson [aka BoJo] is going to announce the next steps in avoiding Covid19.  Hopefully we will start a safe journey back to a new normality.

Liverpool CAMHS has a fantastic website of resources including this Covid19 guide - I felt better just for scanning it.
