World Music Day!

World Music Day!

On Sunday (21st June), it is the annual celebration of World Music Day! In many cities and countries, people take to the streets and parks and offer free concerts and performances in their neighbourhoods. Those of you that are in school, and part of a bubble, will be taking part in a variety of fun, musical-based activities this week to celebrate this event! For those of you engaging in Home Learning, here are a few suggestions of how you can take part in the day:

  • Watch and follow Just Dance videos on YouTube.
  • Host a performance or talent show to your friends and families.
  • Write and perform your own rap song!
  • Watch episodes of Albert's Band on YouTube and learn all about different kids of instruments.
  • Create a body percussion band and learn a new song (e.g. 'The Cup Song' by Anna Kendrick)
  • Ask someone you know what their favourite band or musician is and research them.
  • Continue listening and researching our own Musician of the Month - Frank Sinatra!

Acorn's Activities

Good morning.

Have you been enjoying the lovely sunshine? In my garden although all the summer flowers are still in bud, there are tiny clues of what colour they will be.think the insects are excited I have seen shield beetles and an orange tipped butterfly so far.It is also lovely to hear the birds singing their choruses.
Why not look around your
garden or a natural area near you for mini beasts? Can you count how many legs they have? What colours are they. Why not have a go at drawing one?

Did you notice flags, red, white and blue bunting and other decorations on houses on Friday? That was because it was VE day. That was the day that everyone celebrated Victory in Europe and the end of the Second World War.There were streetparties, dancing, and lots of party food.This year it is 75 years since the end of the war.
Why not paint your own bunting red,
white and blue? Have a look online for an image of the Union Jack. What can you find out about it? Can you have a go at copying it?
There
was lots of cake at the celebration, especially Victoria Sponge Cake or Fairy Cakes. If you can get the ingredients why, not make some?Flapjack always goes down well at tea parties. Here is a great recipe
