The summer term is now underway in Class Wilbur. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the castle role play corner. Over the last couple of weeks the children have found out about life in the past. We have also looked at special events including St George's Day and the story of George and the dragon. To help us retell the story the children created their own props in the creative area.
We also visited Helmsley Castle where the children were able to explore the ruins of a real life castle.
The children are now getting very excited about a special event happening at Windsor Castle towards the end of May. In class we have already sent out our Royal Wedding tea party invites and have learnt about wedding celebrations. We do hope that you will be able to join us on the 18th May for the tea party.
We are extremely proud of the progress that children are making in phonics. Children are now able to use their phonic knoweldge to read and write simple sentences. To help the children at home please now encourage children to form their letters correctly and learn the common exception words (tricky words) we will be sending home. It is important that children are using these independently in their reading and writing.
The children will now be having weekly PE sessions to prepare them for year one. The children must have their PE kits in school all week as we split the children into 2 smaller groups initially.
Please pop in and speak to us if you have any questions or queries.
