Welcome back to Woollard!

Welcome back to class Woollard!

We have had a wonderful start to the year settling in and getting to know new faces. We made a start on our enquiry this week. We have been wondering about what makes us human and how we are all special. Please talk to your child about what they enjoy doing when they are at home and where they like to visit to help us with this. We have also been busy getting used to classroom routines. We are encouraging the children to be more independent during their learning time and to work on putting resources back when they have finished with them. Please help us by encouraging your child to do this at home. We are also asking that all parents encourage their children to enter the school independently in the mornings. We are finding the children who are now coming in alone are far more settled at the beginning of the day.

Housekeeping: Please can you ensure your child has a named pair of indoor plimsolls to wear when they are not outside. We also ask that you check all uniform (especially jumpers and cardigans) to make sure they are clearly labelled. We also ask that you send your child with a named water bottle each day. We do provide water throughout the day but as the weather is being kind to us it helps if the children have their own.

Finally, we would like the children to read at home as often as possible. We will change the children’s books on a Monday and Thursday. However, if an adult has not written in their child’s purple reading record to say they have read, we will not give them a new reading book. Please can you check with your child’s class teacher if you are not sure how our reading at home system works. As always, we appreciate the work you do with your child at home.

Watch this space for updates on our enquiry!
