Hello and a warm welcome back to all parents and carers. I have be inundated with summer holiday stories and it’s great to find out about what the children have been doing whilst we’ve been away.
My first point is a big ‘thank you’ to all parents. The children looked incredibly smart in their uniforms and I was happy to see that all children arrived with full kit ready for PE. I’m currently trying to teach half the class the secret to tying a tie!
Secondly, I’ll begin with some key points for the next term:
- Home learning will be sent home on a Friday. It isn’t due until the following Friday (but may be helpful to get it done over the weekend!).
- PE will continue to be on a Thursday morning.
- Children must read each evening and record this in their reading records. Children who have not read will have to catch up with this the following day in their social time. I am happy with children signing records themselves as I know that parents are very busy on an evening. We are also lucky enough to have a new selection of graded reading books which the children will be choosing from – including titles both classic and modern.
- If any parents would like to speak to me, I am available before school and usually after. Please drop in, call or email and I’d be happy to help with any issues which may arise.
We have had a fantastic week back, investigating our ‘all about me’ overarching theme – interests have ranged from the origin of our surnames to places we have visited and understanding different faiths. Watch this space.
I’ll leave you with a few pictures. Below is our first attempt at immersive French – the only language allowed on a Friday after 3pm! Here we are practicing greetings.
And here are a few shots of class Riordan helping make props for the Y6 play just before we broke up:
