We are currently thinking about our place in the world, and the children have enjoyed exploring what they already know about the local area of Malton. Following our wonderful school trip to Filey, the children have compared the two localities, thinking about how they are similar and different.
The children have also expressed an interest in litter, and why it is important to look after the places we visit by taking our rubbish home. A key question we are beginning to explore is “what can we do with our rubbish?”, and the children are beginning to think about recycling. This is something you might like to discuss with your child at home.
We are currently exploring money as part of our shape, space and measures in class, and all children are progressing with their maths skills. Reception children are looking at how to halve and double amounts to 10, and Year One children are learning to double numbers to 20. Year One children are also becoming more confident when adding and subtracting using a number line.
Class Butterworth will now have PE sessions on a Thursday afternoon and will be venturing outside now that the weather is improving. Please could all children have a navy/black sweater and trainers to wear as well as their usual kit.
Please could I also ask that children’s indoor shoes (plimsolls) are returned to school if they have not been already.
Thanks again for your continued support,
